Adult Sunday School Selections

Summer Quarter 2008 June-August
All Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 am.

Senior Adult - Sanctuary
Bob Spangler & Greg Smith

We use the David C. Cook comprehensive Bible Study. This quarter the three themes are “Rules to Follow”, “Redemption to Receive”, and “Relationships to Build”. The lessons in the first unit of this quarter look at Moses’ instructions to the second generation of Hebrews as they were about to enter the promised land. Moses describes the sinfulness of their fathers, commands them to love God alone, tells them not to forget that he is the source of their prosperity, and appoints Joshua to lead them into Canaan. Unit two studies Hebrews and its description of Jesus as our great high priest, the fulfillment of our new covenant with God, and the object of our faith. Unit three looks at important women in the Old Testament, including Rahab, Ruth, Deborah, and the queen of Sheba.

Christian Workers - Room 21
Betty Morrison & Barb Taylor

We will continue with 1st and 2nd Peter. The content of both letters from beginning to end centers on the victory of the way of holiness and the accent on sanctification and on holy living is unmistakable. Peter reminds us that we can personally experience victory, regardless of the difficulties which threaten in this life. These two letters are practical and forthright. As was characteristic of his person, Peter does not hedge; he marches right into the center of his subject. What is however, especially exciting about these letters is their strong conviction concerning the holy life, the call to complete consecration-presented in that daring style of the adventurous Peter.

Get in the Word – Room 22
Anita Kipe assisted by Jeff Smith

We will be finishing our study of Proverbs. We read at home and discuss in class what we read.

Faith Builders – Fellowship Hall
Ray Kauffman & Steve Geesaman

For the first part of this quarter we will continue with the book, “World Religions and Cults 101: A Guide to Spiritual Beliefs”. Why are there so many religions? Do they basically teach the same thing? Are religious differences really important? The authors address these questions and more as they take a close look at some of the world's major religions and belief systems. From Islam to Jehovah's Witnesses and from New Age Spirituality to Atheism, Darwinism, and Naturalism, this book features: key teachings of each religion; quick-glance belief charts; brief biographies of leaders; study questions for group or individual use; suggested reading for further study. Readers will also discover why spiritual searching is universal, how each religion compares to Christianity, the ten characteristics of cults, and what makes Christianity unique.

Truth Seekers – 3rd Floor
Amanda Vanaman & Brian McDowell

We will be continuing a study from the HomeBuilders: Resolving Conflict in Your Marriage. Every marriage has its share of conflict. The difference between any two couples is not whether there is conflict, but what they do with conflict when it surfaces. Learn to transform conflicts into opportunities to energize your marriage and increase your love for your mate.

Young Adults - Room 24
Grant Benedict

This class is open to both single and married young adults. We want this class to be relevant to today’s issues so we are using an email service called “The Wired Word”. There are weekly lessons tying current event happenings into scripture and providing starters for discussion.
