Family Matters:
Seeing Children Through God Eye’s
Mark 10:13 - 16 (p.716)
CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING (Psalm 127:3)
A gift from God
We know they were valued by Jesus
He rebuked the disciples
Said we must be like children
He blessed them
With blessings come responsibilities
Give our blessings back to God
Christ has to be in the home
Our love for Christ needs to impact our approach towards parenting
Raise our children to be a blessing to others
BECOME LIKE CHILDREN (Mark 10:15)
Humble ourselves
taking a status that would be considered beneath us
Becoming powerless
Just as Christ was humble
Qualities we can learn
Simple faith and trust
They really believe nothing is impossible with God!
Willing to receive something free
Innocence
Vulnerable
Innocent to the ways of the world
Blatant honesty
Share life together
Quick to forgive
Willingness to explore & learn
We must always be eager to learn
Willing to follow someone else
Learning to follow is critical even for leaders
Children have something to contribute!
Going Deeper
Tell your children (whether young or old) they are a blessing to you.
If you have a chance to be around children this week look for these qualities (simple faith, sharing life together, and a willingness to learn) in them. And ask yourself how you can apply that to your life.
Read Mark 10:14. Do we hinder children from coming to Christ? If so, in what ways.
